Accra-London-Miami

Strolling through the streets of Accra, Ghana London, England and Miami, USA

When my client tasked me with combining the 3 very different cities of Accra, London, and Miami, I had no idea what I could draw!

First I was thinking of combining historical landmarks and structures of each place, but as I sketched it out, something was missing. How could I really capture the energy and memory of each place that only he would know?

When it came to Accra, it’s the street life that really pulls you in. The markets are where the energy of the city lies, and the beautiful Kente fabric patterns is the culture you can wear. Crack open a Club lager, and you’re ready for a night on that town.

That’s what I tried to put together in the top third of this drawing, and once I got into the flow, I didn’t take many breaks.

The middle portion is of The Globe pub in London! The pub’s colors are black and gold, so I didn’t have to think much when it came to choosing which parts to spice up a bit. And of course, after the pub, you take the Tube home.

The last third was a place dear to the both of us because it’s where we went to university together. Capturing the city of Miami was easy because it was like picking through memories we had. A lifeguard stand from the beach, murals from Wynwood, and gliders from the University of Miami‘s very own campus!
