This one was a no-brainer to draw. Besides having ‘gold’ in the name already, the American Goldfinch is actually the state bird of New Jersey — my home state! The goldfinch with its striking yellow and black feather combination is a perfect match for my black, white, and gold style.
In some Native American cultures, this bird is a symbol of joy, positivity, and creative self-expression. It is no surprise that an artist was going to make this drawing the first one of the Backyard Birds collection!
