Miami and Chicago

“The pieces I commissioned came out exactly how I had envisioned them and looked better than I could have imagined.

Everything about them matches my style and they fit in perfectly with the decor in my apartment.”

— Allison Beachy, Attorney

When geography and creativity combine, it turns out that you can create some really stunning pieces of artwork. A client had seen a commission I did of the state outlines of New Jersey, Texas, and Rhode Island and was interested in having me create something special for them. She was wondering if I could make city grid art, to go along with two city grids she already had hanging in her home. The cities of Miami and Chicago were places near and dear, and having lived in Miami for many years, I was very familiar with its layout already.

I did some research and studied the city grids of Miami and Chicago. The first concept that came to mind, that would really represent my style, was drawing the majority of the city streets in pen, and the major roads in gold; I wanted to capture the unique personality of each city in my drawings, while also incorporating a personalized touch for the client. The client had mentioned some specific points of interest in each city that were important to them. So, similar to that 3-state commission, I decided to add gold stars to these locations, making the drawings both beautiful and meaningful.

Of course, there were some challenges along the way. Drawing the intricate city grids required a steady hand and a lot of patience. But in the end, it was all worth it. The client was thrilled with the final pieces and I couldn't help but feel proud of what I had created.

So, if you're looking for a unique and personalized piece of art, look no further than Mike Notar Art. And who knows? Maybe one day I'll be drawing the city grid of your hometown, with a touch of gold and a lot of love.
