Art Deco Hotel
“I was looking for something unique that refers to my city/culture, and Mike absolutely brought my vision to life.
He was very involved in the process. The work, effort and customer service were all fantastic. Every time I look at my new artwork, it makes me smile.”
— Michael Viamonte, Researcher
Going to college in Miami and living in both Little Havana and Brickell for a few years meant that the rich art deco architecture of Miami Beach was right in my backyard. When I was commissioned by a friend to draw him an art deco-inspired hotel, I looked no further than the neon lights of Ocean Drive to help me think of something that would fit the request.
When you think of Art Deco, what do you think of? Is it symmetry, streamlined features, and sophisticated yet simple? That’s what I thought of at least, and not only did I want to draw a hotel that looked like it was straight out of the 20’s and 30’s, but it needed to have the car to go with it! Just like how they do it today, the valet kept the most beautiful car out front to complement the hotel’s aesthetic.
